JEE 2013 is going to be more competitive – 20 Percentile rule is a dividing factor

Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (JEE) is going to be the biggest entrance examination as AIEEE is no more and the students who are going to appear AIEEE should have to apply for JEE from 2013 onwards. Almost 12 lakh aspirants were appearing AIEEE every year and a minimum of 5,00,000 students were appearing for IIT JEE. Now the aspirants who want to get in to IITs, NITs, IIITs, Deemed Universities, Private Universities should appear for JEE and the range of the students appearing for JEE 2013 may fall around 15,00,000. So the competition for getting a seat in the country’s prestigious engineering institutes like IITs and NITs is going to be a tough task.

Other than this weightage of the Board mark in JEE is making things tough indeed for the aspirants. JEE Board state that only top 20 percentiles from each state boards will be eligible to appear the exam from 2013. As per the JEE model the aspirants who appears the exam should sit for mains and advanced papers aswell. This rule is going to put the futute of the students in Boards hands. The top 20 percentile scores of the students in the states differ based on how strictly the marks are awarded. Experts says that a student from Meghalaya scoring 45% and student scoring around 85% in Andhra Pradesh will get the same percentile in their respective states. So the aspirant from the states like Andhra Pradesh should also focus on the Board Exams aswell as JEE Mains and Advanced.
