NIFT Entrance Exam Pattern Papers Books

In the very beginning let me tell you that NIFT Entrance Exam is conducted for 6 B. Des programs, 1 B. F. Tech program and 3 Master programs.If you want to know what this programs are and in which NIFT it is being offered, you are suggested to visit that previous introductory blog article. Having said that, let us begin by knowing what is the exam pattern of NIFT Entrance Exam.NIFT Entrance Exam PatternNIFT Entrance Exam Pattern/Syllabus:NIFT Entrance Exam is held in two stages - the written (GAT & CAT) and subsequent tests (Situation Test or GD/Interview). All of this tests are not applicable to all the programs and you can see from the table at right which test is conducted for which NIFT programs.As you can see, for B. F. tech, only a single test - GAT is conducted. Also you can find that GD/Interview is conducted only for Masters program (i.e. M Des., M.F. tech & MFM).What are GAT, CAT & Situation Test in NIFT Entrance Exam?  You can find short descriptions of the test and what questions you can expect from NIFT syllabus given below:1. Quantitative Ability: It tests the quantitative ability, comprising questions on Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentage, Rate of Interest, Work and Task, Ratio and Proportion, and Distance.2. Communication Ability: It tests your language ability in day to day communication in English. It includes questions on synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, singular, plural, one word substitutes, idioms and phrases, correct spellings, etc.3. English Comprehension: It tests one’s ability to comprehend a situation from a given passage and test of basic English language.4. Analytical Ability and Logical Ability: It tests the candidate’s inference and logic from the given information and evaluate the candidate’s ability to identify the logic or reason involved in a particular problem given and applying it in solving the problem. Concepts and practice of creative and lateral thinking are likely to be useful.5. General Knowledge and Current Affairs: It tests the candidate’s general knowledge and current affairs. 6. Case Study: This test is based on a situation of an industry environment. It helps to evaluate the candidate’s managerial ability.There is a minor variation in GAT conducted for B. Des & M. Des. programs compared to GAT conducted for other programs -  Case Study section is not there for B. Des & M. Des., as you can find in the comparative analysis of GAT test sections given below: 
NIFT General Ability Test (GAT) Pattern

Creative Ability Test (CAT):  (Held only for B.Des & M.Des)This test is administered to judge the intuition skill, power of observation, innovation in development of a concept and design ability of the candidate. An important aspect of the test is the creative and innovative medium use of colour and illustration skills.Situation Test (Held only for B.Des)Situation Test is a hands-on test to evaluate your skills for material handling and innovative ability on a given situation with a given set of materials.Group Discussions  (Held for Masters Programs: M.F.Tech., M.Des & MFM).GD topic asked in NIFT entrance exam is of type “Case Study” based for about 15 to 20 minutes.You will be judged in the GD for following parameters:2. Knowledge of the topic assigned.3. Contribution made to the topic.5. Ability to generate new ideas.Personal Interview: (Held for Masters Programs: M.F.Tech., M.Des & MFM).You will be judged on the various parameters in personal interview as listed below:3.
