The rank and structure in Border Security Force is given in the table at right.Salary for BSF  Assistant Sub Inspector:Rs. 11,360/=  in Pay scale: Rs. 5200 - 20,200/= with grade pay Rs. 2,800/=.Salary for BSF  Head Constables:Rs. 9,910/=  in Pay scale: Rs. 5200 - 20,200/= with grade pay Rs. 2,400/=.Selection Process for ASI/HC in BSF:Selection process for Assistant Sub Inspector (Steno) & Head Constables (Ministerial) consists of two phases:Written Exam: Consists of a 1 hour-45 minutes Objective type question paper of 100 marks. Category-wise break-up of the BSF ASI vacancy 2012 is given in the table at left.BSF HC(Ministerial) Vacancy 2012-2013Similarly there are total 304 Head Constables (Ministerial) positions out of which 94 positions are reserved  for departmental candidates. You can find the category-wise break-up of BSF Head Constables (Ministerial) vacancy 2012 in the table at right.
BSF ASI (Steno)/HC (Ministerial) Eligibility:Age eligibility: Min 18 & Max 25 years. Age relaxations exists as per Govt rule.Academic Qualification eligibility:
10+2 or Intermediate or its equivalent ORMatriculation with 3-year diploma in Sceretarial Practice or Modern Office Practice or Commercial practice from a recognized board of  Technical education
Typing/Shorthand eligibility:
For ASI (Steno):  Shorthand 70 WPM in English or in Hindi for 10 minutes.
Transcribe of dictation in English in 60 minutes or Transcribe of dictation in Hindi in 75 minutes on computer.
For Head Constable (Ministerial):  Typing speed 30 WPM (i.e. 9000 KDPH) in English or 25 WPM (i.e. 7500 KDPH) in Hindi on computer. Time: 10 minutes. In addition to the above age & educational qualification eligibility, you should possess the Physical Standard  as given in section "(c) Physical Standard for ASI (Steno) & HC (Min)" in page-2 of the Notification.
