Salary being offered by WBBPE for the Primary Teacher is in the pay-scale of Rs. 5400-Rs.25200/- + Grade Pay and other allowances.Eligibility for WB Primary Teacher:
Age Eligibility: (as on 01.01.2012)Minimum 18 years and Maximum 40 years.
Academic Qualification Eligibility:
1.0 Higher Secondary pass under the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) or its equivalent with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known);
2.0 Higher Secondary pass under the WBCHSE or its equivalent with at least 45% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education in accordance with the National Council for Teacher Education (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations 2002; OR
3.0 Higher Secondary pass under the WBCHSE or its equivalent with at least 50% marks and Diploma in Education (Special Education); OR
4.0 Graduation and two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known);
5.0 Able to read, write and speak in the language relating to the medium for which you wish to apply.

Selection Process for WB Primary Teacher will consist of a 100 point weightage system, with weightage for various parameters given below:1.0 Madhyamik pass under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent: 10

3.0 Training as prescribed in sub-rule (2) of rule 6: 20
4.0 Teacher Eligibility Test (TET): 40
5.0 Extra Curricular Activities: 05
6.0 Interview: 10

Marks to be allotted under Extra Curricular Activities given above are as given below:
1 Games and Sports: 1
2 National Cadet Corps (NCC) 1
3 Arts and Literature: 1
4 Performing Art (Drama): 1
