UNIT – 4 ERMUTATIONS AND COMBINATIONS Fundamental principle of counting, permutation as an arrangement and combination as selection, Meaning of P (n,r) and C (n,r), simple applications.

UNIT – 5 :MATHEMATICAL INDUCTION Principle of Mathematical Induction and its simple applications.

UNIT-6: BINOMIAL THEOREM AND ITS SIMPLE APPLICATIONS Binomial theorem for a positive integral index, general term and middleterm, properties of Binomial coefficients and simple applications.

UNIT – 7 : SEQUENCES AND SERIES Arithmetic and Geometric progressions, insertion of arithmetic, geometric means between two given numbers. Relation between A.M. and G.M. Sum upto n terms of special series: Sn, Sn2 & Sn3. Arithmetics - Geometric progression.

UNIT – 8 : LIMIT, CONTINUITY AND DIFFERENTIABILITY Real-valued functions, algebra of functions, polynomials, rational, trigonometric, logarithmic and exponential functions, inverse functions. Graphs of simple functions. Limits, continuity and differentiability.Differentiation of the sum, difference, product and quotient of two functions. Differentiation of trigonometric, inverse trigonometric, logarithmic, exponential, composite and implicit functions; derivatives of order upto two. Rolle’s and Lagrange’s Mean Value Theorems. Applications of derivatives: Rate of change of quantities, monotonic - increasing and decreasing functions, Maxima and minima of functions of one variable, tangents and normals.

UNIT – 9 : INTEGRAL CALCULUS Integral as an anti – derivative. Fundamental integrals involving algebraic, trigonometric, exponential and logarithmic functions. Integration by substitution, by parts and by partial fractions. Integration using trigonometric identities. Evaluation of simple integrals of the type Integral as limit of a sum. Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. Properties of definite integrals. Evaluation of definite integrals, determining areas of the regions bounded by simple curves in standard form.

UNIT – 10 : DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS :  Ordinary differential equations, their order and degree. Formation of differential equations. Solution of differential equations by the method of separation of variables, solution of homogeneous and linear differential equations of the type:

UNIT – 11 : CO-ORDINATE GEOMETRY Cartesian system of rectangular co-ordinates in a plane, distance formula,section formula, locus and its equation, translation of axis, slope of a line, parallel and perpendicular lines, intercepts of a line on the coordinate axis. Straight lines Various forms of equations of a line, inter-section of lines, angles between two lines, conditions for concurrence of three lines, distance of a point from a line, equations of internal and external bisectors of angles between two lines, coordinates of centroid, orthocentre and circumcentre of a triangle, equation of family of lines passing through the point of intersection of two lines. Circles, conic sections Standard form of equation of a circle, general form of the equation of a circle, its radius and centre, equation of a circle when the end points of a diameter are given, points of inter-section of a line and a circle with the centre at the origin and condition for a line to be tangent to a circle, equation of the tangent. Sections of cones, equations of conic sections (parabola, ellipse and hyperbola) in standard forms, condition for y = mx + c to be a tangent and point (s) of tangency.

UNIT – 12 : THREE DIMENSIONAL GEOMETRY : Coordinates of a point in space, distance between two points, section formula, direction ratios and direction cosines, angle between two inter-secting lines. Skew lines, the shortest distance between them and its equation. Equations of a line and a plane in different forms, inter-section of a line and a plane, coplanar lines.

UNIT – 13 : VECTOR ALGEBRA Vectors and scalars, addition of vectors, components of a vector in two dimensions and three dimensional space, scalar and vector products, scalar and vector triple product.

UNIT – 14: STATISTICS AND PROBABILITY Measures of Dispersion: Calculation of mean, median, mode of grouped and ungrouped data. Calculation of standard deviation, variance and mean deviation for grouped and ungrouped data. Probability: Probability of an event, addition and multiplication theorems of probability, Baye’s theorem, probability distribution of a random variate, Bernoulli trials and Binomial distribution.

GITAM GAT 2013 Online Test Regulations at the Test Center

Students who are appearing for GITAM GAT 2013 Online Entrance Test are hereby informed that the GITAM University has Published the Rules and Regulations that should be followed by the applicant at the GITAM GAT 2013 Test Center. 

Candidates should arrive at the test centre as per the reporting time mentioned in the E-hall ticket. There will be pre-test process which includes registration and an on-site orientation prior to the start of the actual test. If a candidate arrives after the on-site orientation has begun, he/she will not be allowed to take the test. The test hall will be opened 30 minutes before the commencement of the test.The candidate has to register his/her name in the registration counter. The E-hall tickets of the candidates will be checked to satisfy about the identity of each candidate.Each candidate is given a seat with a computer. Candidates must find out and take their allotted seats at least 15 minutes before the commencement of the test. Candidates will not be allowed to carry any textual material, printed or written, bits of papers or any other material except the E-hall ticket inside the test hall. Candidates are also not permitted to bring calculators, slide rules, clark tables, electronic watches with facilities of calculators, laptop or palmtop computers, personal stereo systems, walkie-talkie sets, mobile phones, paging devices or any other object/device that is likely to be of unfair assistance.No candidate will be allowed to go outside the test hall till the completion of the entire duration of time. Once candidates leave the hall (even if only to answer a call of nature) they cannot return under any circumstances. Smoking in the test hall is strictly prohibited. Tea, coffee, cold drinks or snacks are also not allowed to be taken into the test hall.There are no waiting facilities for family and friends at the test centre. Candidates should plan to meet them elsewhere after the test ends.Candidates shall maintain perfect silence and attend to their questions only. All actions of the candidate in the test hall will be closely monitored using web cameras and closed circuit TV cameras. Any conversation or gesticulation or disturbance in the test hall shall be deemed as misbehavior and if a candidate is found using unfair means or impersonation, their candidature will be cancelled and they will be liable to be debarred from taking examination either permanently or for a specified period to be decided by GITAM University. GITAM University reserves the right to withhold the result of such candidates.Candidates must sign the attendance sheet in the presence of the invigilator. The invigilator will also put his/her signature in the place provided in the E-hall ticket.

The objective type multiple-choice question for the Preliminary Examination shall be from the syllabus for the Main Examination. The candidate shall be expected to have a general and basic over view of the main subjects and also the ability to answer questions on current events of national and international importance, Indian legal and constitutional history and governance. The candidate shall also be tested for his analytical skills and aptitude. The standard of the question paper shall be of Law graduate level. The object of the Preliminary Examination is to short list candidates for the Main Examination. No candidate shall be allowed to appear in the Main Examination unless he / she secured minimum 150 marks (read 100 marks for all reserved category candidates) in the Preliminary Examination. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination shall not be counted towards final result. Candidates equal to 10 times the number of vacancies advertised, selected in order of their merit in the respective categories shall become eligible to sit in the Main Examination. However, the number shall be subject to variation. If two or more candidates at the last number (the number at the end) get the equal marks, then all of them shall be considered eligible to sit for the Main Examination, warranting the corresponding increase in the stipulated ratio. A candidate who qualify for the Main Examination will have to apply again on separate application form for Main Examination. The qualified candidates will have to obtain Application Form for the Main Examination from the Commission’s office on any working day. Candidates thrice the number of posts in order of merit of Main Examination will be called for viva-voce.

State Society for Ultra poor &Social Welfare (SSUPSW) under the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Bihar is mandated for implementing different projects of the Social Welfare Department including technical assistance to ICDS, Directorate of Social Securities and Disabilities & Directorate of Social Welfare. The Society is responsible for the implementation of the Sector Wide Approach to Strengthen Health (SWASTH) project funded by DFID, UK. Under the SWASTH project a Nutrition Monitoring Unit (NMU) has been established under the aegis of SSUPSW for strengthening management services of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) programme. The Society requires OSD for its Nutrition Monitoring Unit (NMU).The detail eligibility criteria for this post is as follows; Only Government Officers / Bihar Administrative Service officer with 20 years of service or retired GoB officers may apply or be posted on Deputation / Lien / Contract. Prior experience of working with ICDS or Social Sector will be advantageous. Overall management of the NMU Larger strategic and policy level leadership and guidance Overall responsibility for ensuring the streamlining and cohesion of SWASTH interventions with the larger programmatic and project related goals of ICDS / SWD Government regular/ retired officers as per rules The candidates must apply online by logging on to www.sids.co.in/ssupsw2.
